The Retail Trust: A Nation of Shopkeepers

The Retail Trust is a charity that plays a vital role in championing the health and wellbeing of people working in retail, providing valuable support in mental health and wellbeing, learning and development, financial aid and supported-living.

Baggi consultancy came to Jam as they were in the midst of a rebrand for the charity and they were interested in producing a video to capture the story of the Trust, its purpose, what it does and how it makes a difference.

Originally we were looking at using a Mixture of stock footage, animation (logo or maybe illustrations), and some talking heads (e.g. shops where the Trust has made a difference).

But after chatting to several directors about the film + having the little issue of Covid to contend with, we came up with a different concept.

We proposed that this would be 100% specially shot footage with the voiceovers being real people from various different retailers telling their story.  Because we were in the height of the pandemic, these were conducted over the phone with relative shots over the top.

We loved this project, we travelled the country and got to work with some brilliant people and Retailers, notably:

  • Dreams
  • Fat Face
  • Screwfix
  • River Island
  • Footlocker
  • The Works
  • Yodel
  • Pets at Home

The resulting film was is a very powerful mental health video, that was extremely well received, with fantastic feedback from people in the industry

“This is fantastic! What an incredibly strong, effective and moving video. I can’t wait to share it with clients, they’re going to absolutely love it! Massive thanks to all those that made it happen.”
